The young Romanian ANI (24) is studying contemporary dance in Cologne.
The final performance of the dance academy is coming up and Ani is rehearsing with her dance colleagues on a piece with the title TOUCH.
At the performance, the director of the dance theater will be there to accept new talent into the ensemble. Ani feels torn. At the same time, her MOTHER (50) is suffering from cancer in Romania and urgently needs financial support from Ani for her medical care. But Ani misses her mother and would rather break everything off to visit her sick mother in her home country.
Ani tries with all her might to fulfill all the family's expectations. And then there is Mara, who doesn't want to lose Ani and encourages her to stay in Cologne and fight for the job. However, Ani wants to make her own decisions and be free like her friend Mara. On the day of the performance, Ani's mother passes away, but Ani has no time to mourn. On stage, she is blindsided by her feelings and breaks down.
Mara walks on stage with tunnel vision and takes Ani's hand. Mara gently leads the movements and they dance their small, intimate duet. Just like they always do at home when no one is watching. Familiar and tightly embraced, they dance in the spotlight, forgetting everything around them.
